Laudrup's team will have a total of eight games in January, including an FA Cup third-round replay against Arsenal, but the Dane says his players are revelling in the constant action. ... Read More

BERLIN, Jan 8 (Reuters) - Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund will continue to rely on developing young players rather than copying Bayern Munich's policy of expensive transfers, coach Juergen Klopp said on Tuesday. "I read somewhere that we are planning a 40-million euro counter-attack," Klopp told the Deutsche Presse Agentur (DPA) in an interview at the team's winter training camp in Spain. "However, we are not doing that. There's no question that we must continue to develop but not in the same way as Bayern Munich. ... Read More

Jan 8 (Reuters) - Former champions Rangers will not be offered a short cut back to the top of Scottish football under a plan agreed on Tuesday to reform the club game in Scotland. Rangers have had to relaunch from the lowly fourth tier of the Scottish game after collapsing under a pile of debt last year. The demise of the 54-times champions has added to the financial problems facing many clubs in Scotland where attendances are modest for most teams except Rangers and Glasgow rivals Celtic. ... LONDON, Jan 8 (Reuters) - News that Bolton Wanderers forward Marvin Sordell is being helped by his club for a possible "obsession" with social networking site Twitter may not come as a surprise to those who believe soccer players have too much time on their hands. Snooker halls, pubs, golf courses and betting shops used to the be the favourite domain of off-duty players but nowadays it seems cyberspace is where many spend their free time. As the wages of Premier League stars continue to spiral into the stratosphere, Twitter has become a useful interface between fans and players they idolise. ... Read More
